Lean Enterprise Defined
The Lean Enterprise Institute defines a Lean Enterprise as:-
“A business system for organizing and managing product development, operations,
suppliers, and customer relations. Business and other organizations use lean principles,
practices, and tools to create precise customer value—goods and services with higher
quality and fewer defects—with less human effort, less space, less capital, and
less time than the traditional system of mass production.”
eBECS believe that the business solution deployed by the Lean Enterprise must accommodate
the values, processes, culture and the way of doing business that drives waste reduction
and increases customer value. Put simply - we call this “Lean ERP”.
“At Brazeway, our partnership with eBECS has enabled us to reach our goal of the
seamless integration of Lean and ERP with Microsoft Dynamics AX. Their guidance
and experience helped us navigate the pitfalls of implementation and establish a
robust manufacturing system.”
Steve Smolinski, CIO, Brazeway Inc.
Lean Enterprise Benefits
The right technology combines traditional manufacturing functions along with powerful
Lean capabilities that deliver true performance improvement in order to truly support
and sustain a Lean Enterprise organization. When Microsoft purchased Lean Manufacturing
functionality from eBECS and incorporated it into Microsoft Dynamics AX, this enabled
customers to have tools within their business solution that assists in their lean
journey. Now there is a solution available that truly helps manufacturers meet customer
value and aid flow and pull principles that reduces waste in all its forms.
Lean Manufacturing in Microsoft Dynamics AX is the first genuine Lean ERP solution
that is true to the principles of Lean. The solution provides comprehensive Lean
functionality from the simple use of Kanbans, to sophisticated Lean Accounting concepts
yet at the same time allows it to co-exist (and work with) with the traditional
MRP world.
Lean Enterprise by eBECS
Having originally developed the Lean functionality in Microsoft Dynamics AX, eBECS
quickly gained a reputation of being the industry’s ‘Lean ERP experts.’ But understanding
the solution to that degree is not the only advantage eBECS offers. The real key
to success is in the solution architecture. eBECS recognizes that more importantly
than just knowing the software as a tool, it is imperative to know how and where
to apply the software in an organization. To maximize the benefits of a Lean solution,
it cannot be applied to just ‘fit’ the current processes of an organization, but
must aid an organization in its Lean journey by applying Lean Thinking during the
implementation and with the use of small incremental steps after go live, to remove
waste from all aspects of an organization. The objective is to have an evolving
solution that is based on defining value, establishing flow, and running an enterprise
based on pull techniques.
"eBECS Lean Enterprise for Microsoft Dynamics AX helps us drive continuous improvement
to reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction."
Michael Gerster, President Wika Instruments Inc.
Lean Manufacturing II, III and the Vendor Enterprise Portal
eBECS offers additional solution sets with Lean Manufacturing II, Lean Manufacturing
III and the Lean Manufacturing Vendor Enterprise Portal. eBECS has introduced these
additional solution sets to address the specific needs of High Tech, Medical Device
and Equipment, Aerospace & Defense and the Automotive manufactures.
The Lean Centre of Excellence
Microsoft and eBECS established the Lean Centre of Excellence to serve as a collaborative
facility for organisations looking to utilise Lean capabilities within Microsoft
Dynamics AX. Microsoft recognises that a successful Lean implementation is not simply
about providing the right software tools; just as important are the skills of the
team that architect and deliver the solution. Becoming a member of this community
will provide you with a place to ask questions, share your experiences, access the
latest materials and ultimately expand your knowledge. Joining the Lean Centre of Excellence will ensure you are
kept up to date with news, events and training opportunities.
