The eBECS Way Coast-to-coast cycle raises over £8,000 for Macmillan and RNLI

Staff at a Chesterfield company got on their bikes to raise more than £8,000 for its customers Macmillan Cancer Support and the RNLI by riding 170 miles from coast to coast.

“The eBECS Way” saw 18 staff undergo the gruelling challenge of cycling from one side of the UK to the other in just three days.

Stephen Wilson, marketing director at eBECS, who offer expert advice on Microsoft Dynamics Business Solutions said, “eBECS have raised thousands of pounds for Macmillan since they became one of our charity partners in November 2012.”

He continues, “Riding such a distance in just three days was no mean feat for anyone involved, but knowing it was for two such worthwhile causes made it incredibly rewarding. It was an experience we will always remember and we would like to thank everyone who supported us throughout.”

The challenge sent the group along a rugged route that started at Morecambe lifeguard station and finished at Bridlington lifeguard station.

The team consisted of Anthony Stillman, Dyfed Smith, Jasmin Dhawali, Katherine Shore-Jones, Stephen Hammell, Jamie Robson, Paul Fryer with his partner Belinda Jones, Keith Delarge, Marcus Stone, Sam Dharmasiri, Stephen Wilson, Martin Robinson, Paul Saxton, Rick Kimberley, Jeremy Schmid, Chris Smith, Jeremy Pike and Saif Saadeh. Sponsor money amounted to a grand total of £8,013.37.

eBECS are already deep into planning their next challenge which is a ride along the coast of The Netherlands in 2015.

Fundraising manager for Macmillan in Chesterfield Rob Turner said, “Every £1,000 raised can fund a Macmillan Nurse for a whole week. Macmillan relies almost entirely on donations from the public to fund its services and thanks to the support of the eBECS team we can be there for more people affected by cancer.”
