eBECS announces its commitment to Microsoft PowerApps

eBECS, the leading total Microsoft Business Solutions implementation partner, has announced its commitment to developing PowerApps both for – and alongside – its clients.

PowerApps is the new software service created by Microsoft that allows business users to create bespoke Microsoft business applications for use by the entire business, and via any device. eBECS has been involved from day one, as part of Microsoft’s PowerApps Advisory Board, as a launch partner, and as a developer of the first PowerApps for Fitness First, a leader in the global fitness industry.

Many organisations rely upon standard applications for collaboration, which may not be optimised for a plethora of mobile devices that workers now have at their fingertips, or perhaps do not integrate seamlessly with other Microsoft applications. By contrast, Microsoft PowerApps is an enterprise software service that dramatically accelerates the speed at which internal business apps can be built, connected and rolled out.

PowerApps has been developed specifically to overcome the problem of too few skilled developers to keep up with the increasing demand for practical and bespoke solutions. What makes PowerApps so powerful for businesses is that it is a tool that even non-programmers can use to build cross-product and cross-business apps. Apps can be deployed by any Microsoft business user in just weeks instead of months; they can use familiar Office skills and deploy the apps across devices. PowerApps operates in a secure environment and it comes with view or edit permissions, so enterprise manageability is built in as well.

Amir Jafri, CTO at eBECS comments, “As a specialist in providing total Microsoft Business Solutions for our clients, eBECS sees PowerApps as a very exciting innovation that’s a particularly good fit for our customers where data and processes tend to span across multiple solutions. We can apply our extensive knowledge of the Microsoft stack to create – or assist our clients to create – powerful business applications that operate across their organisation, promote collaboration and drive efficiencies. PowerApps improves productivity by allowing people to work quicker and smarter by having the data they need at their fingertips, wherever they are.”

Stephen Wilson, marketing director at eBECS, adds, “Our commitment to PowerApps reinforces the fact we are not simply a reseller of Microsoft products but a creator and enabler of total Microsoft Business Solutions. eBECS has implemented thousands of Microsoft business solutions in recent years and PowerApps is another vehicle for driving through quicker and more effective ways of working business-wide. PowerApps will allow our customers to draw upon the wealth of data that resides within their business applications to implement more efficient ways of working to improve customer service and drive competitive advantage.”

Providing an insight into how PowerApps are being used, Ed Hutt, group Chief Information Officer at Fitness First says, “Technology is at the core of the modern fitness and health industries. We will build customer-focused and business-focused Apps for specific purposes, some for even a short period of time around particular events such as Wimbledon, the Olympics and, of course, the post-Christmas period when many people decide they need to get fit.  We will also build for specific health campaigns such as the Government’s current Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease and Obesity push and show how we can help with health through fitness.  Microsoft PowerApps is a very interesting approach.  It will allow us to build new Apps very fast, get the benefits straight away, beat the market and then move on to the next commercial task.”
