Microsoft Dynamics PSA Bookable Resource Category Association

Bookable resource roles link the roles in PSA to a bookable resource. It is a go-between record that lists all roles that bookable resources have associated with them as seen below.

Essentially, a bookable resource category association will link the new role to the bookable resource specified.

As seen below, the ‘Developer’ role will be added to Ashley Chinn’s bookable resource record.

Importance of Bookable Resource Category Association

• Bookable resource roles are important as they define the role or roles of a bookable resource. A bookable resource can only have ONE default Resource Role however they do not have to.
• When entering a timesheet that is not associated with a WBS item that has a role assigned the resource default Role Cost and Sales value will be applied.
• It allows a user to quickly associate a role to a resource without having to navigate to the bookable resource form.
• Therefore, bookable resource records are the basis of resource allocation in PSA.
